Ecopark Kantun-Chi is a Riviera Maya nature park centered on cenotes, an underground cave and the region’s karst landscape. The park translates its Maya name as “Yellow Stone Mouth.” Its official site describes five cenotes set in the jungle and several guided experiences, from surface cenote exploration to a more immersive underground route.

Current Kantun-Chi experiences
| Experience | Focus |
|---|---|
| Grutaventura | Underground cave and its natural formations |
| Gruta Travesía | Underground river route |
| Aguas Mágicas | Maya jungle walk with visits to the park’s five cenotes |
| 4 Travesías | Choice among four clear-water cenotes |
Guides interpret the karst process, biodiversity and Maya culture. Some experiences may include equipment or food while others are more limited, so one admission does not necessarily cover every cenote and cave.
Swimming, caves and terrain
A cenote visit means natural terrain rather than a swimming pool: forest paths, steps, damp rock, changing light and cool fresh water. Shoes with good grip help, and swimming is allowed only where staff permit it. Visitors uneasy in enclosed spaces should choose an open cenote experience over the cave and river routes.
Bring a swimsuit, towel, dry clothes and a small bag that can be secured. To protect the water, follow the park’s rules on sunscreen, insect repellent, cosmetics, food and disposable items, and do not touch cave formations or disturb wildlife. Visibility, water level and route order depend on natural conditions, and on-site guide instructions take priority.
Accessibility
Jungle paths, wet steps, cave entrances and entries into the water may be difficult for some visitors. A clear description of the route, where non-participating companions can wait and how long the group stays underground is more useful than a general accessibility label.
Getting there
Kantun-Chi lists its address on Federal Highway Cancún–Tulum at kilometer 266.8, in the Puerto Aventuras area south of Playa del Carmen. A highway drop-off by colectivo or taxi is not necessarily the visitor reception point, and travelers from Cancun, Playa del Carmen or Tulum should allow for traffic and road works.
Arriving at Cancún Airport? Book a private ride straight to your hotel and skip the airport taxi lines.
Before you book
Experiences, prices, promotions and inclusions change. Before paying, check the date, the route and inclusions of the chosen experience, age and swimming requirements, the total price and cancellation terms on the park’s official site.
