Cenote and reef experiences
The center lists cenote routes at sites such as Dos Ojos, The Pit, Dreamgate, Casa Cenote, Carwash, Angelita and Taak Bi Ha, among others. Each has different depth, light, overhead conditions and access, and not every cavern or cave route is appropriate for an ordinary open-water qualification.
Reef diving and snorkeling are also offered, including Tulum-area reefs and selected Cozumel experiences. The right choice depends on certification, comfort in current, recent dives and weather.
Beginners and certified divers
Beginners can start with PADI Discover Scuba Diving, an introductory program rather than a certification; a full qualification requires the Open Water course with its academic, confined-water and open-water parts. Certified divers should share their level, logged dives and most recent dive date. A Reactivate refresher is available for returning divers whose skills are rusty.
Training and technical services
| Track | Courses listed |
|---|---|
| PADI recreational | Open Water, Advanced, Rescue, Divemaster; specialties such as deep and enriched-air nitrox |
| NACD overhead | Cavern and cave training |
| Technical | Sidemount, propulsion vehicle, technical guiding |
The shop also offers air and nitrox fills plus tank and equipment rental. Divers may bring their own gear; check cylinder compatibility, valve types and weights, and try rental equipment for fit before departure.
Safety in cenotes
Cenote diving combines freshwater buoyancy, entry logistics and, on some routes, an overhead environment. Stay within your certification and follow the guide’s gas, light and line procedures; social-media images are no proof that a site is easy. Disclose medical conditions and complete screening honestly. Weather and groundwater conditions can change the plan.
Snorkeling and non-diving companions
Dive Tulum also runs cenote and reef snorkeling for travelers who do not scuba dive. Snorkeling still requires comfort in the water; families can ask about minimum ages, flotation, water temperature and entry steps.
Getting there
The shop is in central Tulum at Calle Centauro Sur and Calle Sol Oriente 18. Some trips start at the shop and others at a separate meeting point, so check your confirmation. For early departures, prepare certification evidence, swimwear, reusable water and any personal dive computer the night before.

Before you book
