Legal Requirements for a Wedding in Mexico and FAQ's
These are the requirements without which a Legal Wedding cannot take place.
How far in advance must we be in Mexico?
The Bride and Groom MUST to be here in México 4
working days prior to the wedding ceremony (Saturdays, Sundays and Public
Holidays do not count). If bringing witnesses them MUST AS WELL be in Mexico 4
days prior to the ceremony.
When do we meet our wedding coordinator and what is our first meeting about?
Upon arrival you must meet your coordinator to submit all your documents:
- Passports (new copies are made of them) from bride, groom and witnesses if
joining the couple and if foreign.
- Driver's license in case of having one.
- Legal form filled with information previously sent by guests must be checked
and signed. This information goes to the Marriage Certificate. Signatures from
bride, groom and witnesses are mandatory.
*****THE CEREMONY WILL NOT BE PERFORMED UNLESS ALL THE DOCUMENTS ARE IN ORDER,
THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS****
Afterwards, details on flowers, ceremony location, etc. will be arranged.
What information must we send to the wedding coordinator?
BRIDE & GROOM

Personal Information (Name, age, nationality,
home address and occupation, educational degree, working status (occupied,
pensioned, welfare), company position (manager, employee, owner), Income
(monthly), Marriage Agreement: a) Joint Possessions b) Separate Possessions.

Valid Passport. (COPY) *Please be advised that if
they do not have valid passports you will not be able to get married.

Copy of a photo ID such as valid driver's license.

FMT Tourist card: it will be provided by Customs at the airport upon arrival.
WITNESSES (4 people)

Name, age, nationality, home address and occupation

Valid Passport. (COPY) *Please be advised that if
they do not have valid passports they will not be able to perform as witnesses.

Copy of a photo ID such as valid driver's license.

FMT Tourist card: it will be provided by Customs at the airport upon arrival
***If the couple does not bring guests or
witnesses the hotel WILL PROVIDE THEM free if charge. They are part of our
staff.
How are the Blood Tests arranged?
The blood tests are taken here in Mexico, they
are not valid if made elsewhere; to be considered valid the results should not
be taken more than 14 days prior to de Ceremony. Blood will be tested for HIV,
RPR (sexually transmitted diseases) and Blood type. The results will be ready in
24 hours and there is an EXTRA 200 USD CHARGE PER COUPLE involved.
The procedure is described as follows:

Upon arrival, your wedding coordinator sets the
appointment up for the next day first thing in the morning (usually at 9:00 am).

The hotel doctor will go to your room and take
the blood sample there. He uses only new needles, please feel comforted by the
fact that he is a professional and will secure your wellbeing at all times.

The payment must be made directly with the doctor
via cash or traveler's checks.
CEREMONY FAQ'S:
Will the Ceremony be performed in English?
No, the ceremony will be preceded by a Spanish
speaking judge but there will be a translator present, this duty may be
performed by your wedding coordinator or by any member of the family who would
like to be involved in the ceremony.
How long will the ceremony last?
It will take from 15 to 20 minutes. After the
bride, Groom and witnesses sign the Marriage Certificate, then the toast comes
and the cutting of the cake.
Will the wedding certificate be in English?
No, like the ceremony, it will be in Spanish since it will be issued in a
Spanish speaking country.
Will the Mexican Marriage Certificate be valid in the USA or Canada right after
the Ceremony?
No, this document is only valid IN MEXICO. To
make it valid in the USA, and / or Canada it will be submitted to the Legal
Register office for an APOSTILLE or VALIDATION process.
How does the Apostille or Validation Work?
After the wedding, the coordinator makes a copy
of your certificate which is sent to this province's Capital City (Chetumal) and
it is validated in a period from 1 till 3 months.
Is there an extra cost for the Apostille?
Yes, the EXTRA CHARGE involved is 100 USD that must be paid in cash with either Mexican Pesos (1000 one thousand) or American
dollars. If you have traveler's checks you can exchange them at the Front Desk.
How will we get our marriage certificate?
The wedding coordinator will receive it after the
mentioned period and she will FEDEX it to your home address. This is why it is
very important to leave your current home address and telephone number to your
wedding coordinator. You will be posted on the date you might be expecting it.
When are non-legal ceremonies performed?
These kind of ceremony are performing Mondays to
Saturdays
Which ceremonies are considered non-legal?
Vow Renewal:
When you are already married in the USA and it is just a symbolic ceremony.
Is this ceremony included with the FREE WEDDING PACKAGE?
Yes, it will if you have booked a 7 night stay in
a Junior Suite Ocean Front Room.
How far in advance should the Bride & Groom arrive in Mexico for a non-legal
ceremony?
One day prior to the ceremony. Only the bride and
groom's full name is necessary. The Minister will confirm the wedding date
through the Wedding Coordinator who will provide the Minister with all the
guests' information.
If we have a non-legal ceremony will we receive a certificate?
Not a legal one, but the Minister will provide a
copy of the most meaningful words said on the ceremony. This will be like a
reminder of your special day.
Which locations are available for ceremonies?

The Gazebo (located by the pool and with a lovely ocean view)

The Casita (at the beach, small tent that
provides some shade)

The beach (not under the tent, on the actual
sand, simple set up)

Capri's Restaurant Private Area (in door area
that accommodates a small party, normally used as a back up for rainy days).
***The location is chosen upon arrival and will depend on the number of guests
attending***

The Free Wedding Package has a selection of four
different bouquets with matching boutonnieres listed as follows:

Champagne Dreams Bouquet: An abundance of roses
accented with simple greenery.

The Calla Lilies Bouquet: Uniquely elegant, both
carefree and formal.

The Infinite Love Bouquet: Red roses, the
traditional symbol of love, collected in a stunning bouquet.

The Jeweled Bouquet: Flowers that sparkle in red,
purple and pink.
***These are chosen upon arrival: there are other
styles available, an extra charge will apply. ***

WEDDING CAKE INFO:
The Free Wedding Package cake is designed to
please the taste of up to 10 (ten) guests.
***Given the size of a larger a bigger cake will
be provided and an extra charge will apply. ***
ADDITIONAL SERVICES AVAILABLE:
Wedding Reception: A private event option will be
available if the guests would like to have a Wedding Reception. An extra charge
will apply for:

Guest in house (the bride & groom qualify for this category). 40 USD.

External guests attending (non staying guests) 60.00 USD.
***This prices are per person and valid only for
2006, please expect an approximate raise of 5.00 USD per person for upcoming 2007.
Menu choices will be provided by Wedding Coordinator prior to our guest's
arrival. ***

Mexican Trio $450.00 usd +10% Tax per hour.

Photo Album Options:

36 Color 6"X 8” photos, included CD ROM $500.00 usd

DVD 30 Minutes $400usd

This service is provided by a professional photographer; you must choose the
package of your liking upon arrival, when meeting your Wedding Coordinator.
The price of this service is 10% tax and it will be charged to your room so you
can take care of the payment upon departure.
A very lovely Wedding Photo Album will be provided. The photographer makes the
choice of the best pictures and prepares the album which is given to the guest
the day after the ceremony.
If you would like to have extra pictures, the
price is 10 USD per piece.
The Video (VHS or DVD) are chosen, if wanted, upon arrival as well. It will take
one day and a half to receive the video. This charge will also be made to your
room and the price is plus tax as well.
THIS IS AN ADULTS ONLY RESORT. THIS POLICY APPLIES EVEN FOR WEDDING CEREMONIES.
