Getting Married in
Cancun
Requirements for
getting married in Cancun
Civil Ceremony: The bride, groom and
witnesses must be in Cancun, at least three working days in advance
of the wedding date, as they must sign the Application for Marriage
forms. The wedding coordinator must receive the following documents
in order to go to the Civil Registry Office to fill out the
corresponding Application for Marriage.
Please bring with you Clear Photocopies of:
1. Tourist Cards: You will receive
them on the aircraft or upon arrival at the Cancun airport.
2. Passports are Mandatory for Bride, Groom and Witnesses.
Birth Certificates are only accepted
if they are authenticated for use abroad as per the Hague Convention
of 1961. For more information on obtaining birth certificate
authentication, please consult your Omni Wedding Coordinator. We
highly recommend the use of passports. This requisite is very
important in order to get married in Cancun. It is mandatory to have
Passports or the Birth certificates from the couple. If you are
using passports, please also bring copies of your birth
certificates.
3. Blood Tests: Blood tests must be
given in Cancun. The approximate cost is US $150.00 per couple. The
tests must include blood type, Venereal disease and Aids tests, and
must be taken within 15 days prior to the wedding date. Results are
written on a medical doctor’s letterhead, also stating that the
couple is physically and mentally in good health. The cost for this
medical certificate is $50.00 US dollars.
4. Bring originals of final Divorce Decrees or Death Certificates,
if applicable, with the Apostil
(Apostille, authenticated for use abroad as per the Hague Convention
of 1961).
5. Witnesses (four): The names,
addresses, ages, nationalities, occupation, relationship, Tourist
Cards and Passports (mandatory) of four witnesses is required. If
the couple is traveling alone, we can supply the witnesses.
6. Fee of US $ 430.00: (subject to
change) to be paid to the cashier at the Civil Registry Office. This
fee includes the Registration fee, Marriage Certificate, and Judge
performing ceremony at the Omni Cancun Hotel. (Price is subject to
change.)
Religious Ceremony: If you prefer only a religious ceremony
performed by a Christian pastor, the donation for the church is
$300.00 US dollars, and you do not need to present any documents.
You can obtain your marriage license in the United States.
NOTE:
Weddings can be Civil or Religious or
if you desire it, you can have both.
